The Harvard Kavli Institute for Bionano Science & Technology (KIBST) is pleased to announce the
appointment of Dr. Anna Shneidman as their Managing Director, effective March 1, 2018.

Anna will introduce new initiatives to Harvard’s Kavli Institute, with a focus on establishing multidisciplinary collaborations among Harvard’s wide range of researchers. Anna will report directly to KIBST co-directors, Professors Joanna Aizenberg and George Whitesides.

Anna received her PhD in Chemical Physics at Harvard University in May 2016. She conducted her thesis work in the laboratory of Professor Marko Lončar, where she focused on a high-throughput method for on-chip photonics using roll-to-roll processing of polymers. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Joanna Aizenberg, developing self-assembled inverse opals for photonic and catalytic applications, including local photonic control of enzymatic activity. In addition, Anna has been Secretary (2014-15), Vice President (2015-2016), and Co-advisor (2016-present) of the Harvard SEAS Photonics Club, which organized the inaugural Boston Photonics
Conference in February 2016, as well as bi-weekly journal discussions, outreach events,
seminar series, and social activities.
